Adult Programs at 119th Street

Group lessons are a great way to improve your game and meet other tennis players.  We offer a variety of different programs.

Groups require committing to a full session, usually 7 weeks.  If a group has space left, you may join midsession at a prorated price.

Beginner, Intermediate and Doubles:  Up to 6 players per group, 90 minute lessons, $68 per lesson

Cardio Tennis:  Up to 6 players per group, 60 minute lessons, $45 per lesson

There will be no group lessons Memorial Day Weekend.  Groups coached by Sunlight will begin the week of May 5.  Any groups listed at a lower price are 6 weeks, the rest are 7 weeks.

Spring 2025 - April 28 to June 22
Registration Opens March 21, 12pm

Beginner

For beginners and advanced-beginners looking to learn and improve.  Particpants will develop basic stroke technique and learn to keep a rally going.

No prior experience required.

Intermediate

This drill-oriented class is for players who can sustain a ten-ball rally, control and direct the ball, and use topspin and slice.

Participants will refine their technique and play games to work on point construction.

Cardio Tennis

Ditch the evening spin class or run and get your exercise in on the tennis court!  Cardio Tennis offers a fast-paced, hour-long mix of drills and point play to deliver the ultimate full-body, calorie-burning aerobic workout.

For advanced beginner to intermediate players who know stroke fundamentals and can play points.  Please register for Beginner if you are below this level.

Doubles

This program is designed to sharpen your net play, court positioning and quick reflexes through fast-paced drills and simulated match situations.

Players joining this group must know the rules of doubles and be able to sustain consistent rallies.  A partner is not required to sign up.  If you are a beginner, please sign up for a Beginner group.

  • Makeup Policy:
    • If you miss a lesson, it may be possible to find a makeup. You may check online to see if there is an opening in another group of the same program at the same location as your group. When the lesson begins, ask the pro if there is a space available for a makeup player. If there is, you may join. No more than 6 players can be on court.
    • If you are 20 minutes late to your group lesson, you are no longer guaranteed a spot that day.  A player doing a makeup in your place may finish the hour with the group, and the late player may find a makeup on another day if six players are already on court 20 minutes or more into the lesson.
    • There are no refunds for absences and makeups are not guaranteed. Makeups do not carry over from one session to another. If you are absent during Spring session you may not do a makeup with a Summer session group.
  • Rain Policy:
    • The final two weeks of the group schedule serve as makeup dates for rainouts, unless the specific registration page notes otherwise. These will always be on the usual day and time in the week. Players absent on these days are not eligible for a refund or credit.

You will receive a direct notification from RTA in the event of a rainout.

  • While RTA and our pros make reasonable effort to notify players in advance of rainouts, it is not always possible to know ahead of time if courts will be playable.  Please understand that on occasion rain notifications may not come in time to save you the trip to the courts.

Email info@riversidetennis.org with questions.  We look forward to seeing you out on the courts at Riverside!
